IFAB has again been asked by Goethe-Schule in Wetzlar to carry out hot smoke tests to validate the flawless functionality of the installed fire detection system in the new school-building. The tests became necessary because some of the smoke detectors installed in the ceiling were partially covered by newly suspended ceilings.

IFAB completed free burn fire tests of a complete rail vehicle as a base to validate numerical simulation methods. IFAB’s responsibility was to develop the testing method with the measurement system, carry out all measurements, HRR calculations (by different methods) and reporting of the test results.

IFAB has carried out for and together with N2 Global a series of fire tests using various N2 Global fire extinguishing systems. Nitrogen was used as the extinguishing agent. The test scenarios were developed and implemented in close collaboration with N2 Global.

IFAB has carried out fire tests for one of the leading water mist manufacturers according to ARGE part II:2018 and UNI 11565:2016. High pressure water mist systems were tested in order to approve its efficiency in passenger areas for rolling stock. IFAB is specifically accredited for the application of such guidelines in fire tests.
