Fire safe­ty con­sult­ing

IFAB is spe­cial­ized in fire safe­ty con­sult­ing and offers var­i­ous ser­vices in the field of struc­tur­al fire pro­tec­tion, includ­ing fire safe­ty con­cepts, fire safe­ty plan­ning, the evi­dence of fire safe­ty designs as well as expert’s state­ment. Stan­dard build­ings are cov­ered by the reg­u­la­tions and pro­ce­dures by the build­ing law. Each par­tic­u­lar pro­ce­dure is tied in a holis­tic fire safe­ty con­cept such as:

– pre­ven­tive fire pro­tec­tion / fire pre­ven­tion
 • struc­tur­al fire safe­ty
 • tech­ni­cal and plant-spe­cif­ic fire safe­ty
 • organ­i­sa­tion­al fire safe­ty

– fire-fight­ing / fire pro­tec­tion.

Our build­ing ser­vices cov­er stan­dard and high risk build­ings as well as build­ings with var­i­ous archi­tec­tur­al require­ments. Stan­dard build­ings refer to appli­ca­tions that are well cov­ered by fire stan­dards and nor­mal designs, which make fire safe­ty design eas­i­er. High risk build­ings are appli­ca­tions that are not cov­ered by fire stan­dards by at least one top­ic. Alter­na­tive­ly, build­ings may con­tain ele­ments that require high­er pro­tec­tion than described by fire stan­dards. Archi­tec­tur­al require­ments often set design objec­tives that require non-stan­dard­ized solu­tions. Tak­ing care about such high demands is a spe­cial­ty of IFAB. Our knowl­edge, gained from over 1800 fire tests, is the key to pro­vide effi­cient and cost-effec­tive fire pro­tec­tion solu­tions. Con­cert halls, the­atres, high-rise build­ings, shop­ping malls, hos­pi­tals, lab­o­ra­to­ries, stor­age facil­i­ties and in par­tic­u­lar cher­ished her­itage build­ings are typ­i­cal exam­ples of the sphere of com­pe­tence of IFAB’s build­ing ser­vices.

Indus­tri­al appli­ca­tions are not always cov­ered by stan­dards but typ­i­cal­ly have spe­cif­ic fire haz­ards. These can range from expen­sive and haz­ardous pro­duc­tion machines to whole fac­to­ries that require spe­cial pro­tec­tion. Such non-stan­dard appli­ca­tions are a par­tic­u­lar field of IFAB exper­tise. IFAB uses mod­ern tools such as CFD-sim­u­la­tions and car­ries out lab­o­ra­to­ry scale tests.
